In September 2021, the KraussMaffei Asia Pacific Logistics Center (APLC) in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, completed the warehousing of the first batch of imported spare parts for injection molding machines and foaming machines. The APLC is a free trade “bonded warehouse”. It is another regional center of KraussMaffei in addition to the logistics one at the headquarters of Munich, Germany.

KraussMaffei conducts the site selection assessment in 2019 and signs a contract of designated Shanghai as the new Asia Pacific logistics center for spare parts in 2020.

Adjacent to the Yangtze River estuary, the center is at the intersection of golden waterway and golden shoreline and close to Waigaoqiao deepwater port area and Pudong Airport, bordering expressways leading to other places. With such convenient transportation, it is the warehousing and transportation hub of KraussMaffei in the Asia-Pacific region.

Covering an area of 500 square meter, the new APLC will be an integrated center for spare parts for KraussMaffei’s three main business areas of injection molding, extrusion and reaction molding equipment. Relying on the advantages of the Free Trade Zone, it will significantly simplify the customs clearance procedure for KraussMaffei’s spare parts, speed up the delivery time of spare parts and provide more efficient services to customers in China and the rest of the Asian-Pacific region.

"The opening of the Asia Pacific Logistics Center is a major milestone in advancing the Global Spare Parts Logistics Center strategy. The APLC reflects KraussMaffei’s core philosophy of focusing on customer needs, supporting regional growth with global resources, and empowering the region to respond to the market faster, serve customers and help them succeed.” Ms. Nadine Despineux, Global Executive Vice President of the Digital and Service Solutions Division of KraussMaffei, said, “Following the opening of our new logistics center in Shanghai, our global spare parts center will also be put in place step by step. The responsibility for the operation of the Global Logistics Center covers the entire logistics chain, including material planning, spare parts procurement, warehousing and distribution logistics as well as returns processing. We have delivered 100,000 spare parts orders worldwide. Going forward, digital tools and products will be used with precision targeting. It is expected that the algorithm will be widely used to forecast the demand for spare parts in 2022.”

The APLC’s universal storage facilities ensure immediate taking-out of spare parts, guaranteeing a more rapid response to the market and order processing. The initial inventory contains nearly 1,000 kinds of materials from KraussMaffei’s most common product lines, which will finally optimize the APLC through further analysis of customers’ spare parts needs. The product lines will be expanded with continued operations to gradually increase the availability of APLC and the taking-out rate of spare parts.

“The new center has been established to improve the availability and taking-out rate of spare parts, more efficiently serve customers in China and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region and empower KraussMaffei and its customers to grow their business. The APLC has underlined KraussMaffei’s determination and confidence to expand its market and further pioneer its business in China and other parts of the Asia Pacific region, aiming to deliver greater added value to its customers.” said Cui Xiaojun, general manager of KraussMaffei China.
