March 5 marked the 54th “Learning from Lei Feng Day” and the 18th “China Youth Volunteer Service Day”. Recently companies directly under the CNCE have launched a wave of volunteer services in local neighborhoods to “learn from Lei Feng”.
Sanming Doublewheel Chemical Machinery: volunteer services at bus and train stations
At the bus terminal and the north train station in the city of Sanming, there were a group of volunteers helping passengers with their luggage, showing them how to use the ticket machine and keeping the stations in good order. The 68 volunteers were all from Sanming Doublewheel Chemical Machinery and had been there serving passengers since February.
According to Huang Shujuan, CYL secretary of Sanming Doublewheel Chemical Machinery, as many students and migrant workers flood back to school and work, the bus terminal and the train station have been often crowded with passengers recently, many of whom carry a lot of luggage, too burdensome for them to find the way or buy a ticket. What’s more, many passengers don’t know how to use the ticket machine and tend to get stuck in front of the machine. So Sanming Doublewheel Chemical Machinery divided its volunteers into two groups: one at the bus terminal and the other at the train station to help passengers in need.
For example, they helped Ms. Wang buy a ticket and move her heavy luggage on board. She was very grateful. “I rarely make long-distance travels. I’ve brought a lot of stuff with me on this trip. I was sort of worried before I left home. It’s so nice of them to help me buy the ticket and carry the luggage. I’m deeply moved.”
Xi’an Lishan Automobile Factory: volunteer services at local neighborhood
To advocate the Lei Feng spirit, the office of retirees’ affairs of Lishan Automobile organized more than 100 employees and their families to clean courtyards, parking lots, and trunk roads of the 3402 Neighborhood, collecting over 40 packages of white waste, cleaning five neglected areas of public hygiene and refurbished nine publicity boards.
Shenyang Automobile Axle Manufacturing: placing 100 cushions in employee rest areas
On March 1, the workers’ union and CYL branch of Shenyang Automobile Axle Manufacturing organized 15 youth volunteers to clean eight workers’ rest zones in their spare time, and placed 100 cushions there to make the rest zones clean and cozy, wining praises from workers.
Dalian 4821: cleaning and beautifying the factory environment
To carry forward Lei Feng’s spirit and to mark the 54th “Learning from Lei Feng Day”, the workers’ union of Dalian 4821 called on all employees to learn from Lei Feng and foster a new trend. Workers volunteered to clean the factory environment. It shows that everyone could be Lei Feng and the Lei Feng spirit is with us.
Yiyang Rubber & Plastics Machinery: Yishen CYL volunteers clearing illegal ad-stickers
On March 3, the Yishen CYL branch of Yiyang Rubber & Plastics Machinery Group launched a voluntary campaign to clear illegal ad-stickers, allowing CYL members to practice the Lei Feng spirit and enhance their sense of responsibility toward the city environment. These CYL members brought shovels, rags and buckets with them, cleared illegal ad-sticker found on lamp poles and bus stop signs on both sides of the northern gate of the city college, and wiped clean the seats, dustbins and municipal facilities at bus stops.
