A new type of steam pipe rotary-drying coal-moisture control technology and related equipment developed by the Chemical Machinery & Automation’s Tianhua Institute and the Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co, Ltd. was given the okay recently.
The technology project is a new method for coal-moisture control and drying system applied in the dry-quenching process of ovens used in the coking and steel industries. It can lower the moisture content of coal, improve coking speed, shorten the coking time, and improve the quality of coke and can cut emissions significantly and improve the operation environment, compared with the wet-quenching method. The steam produced by the dry quenching devices can also be used and improve overall energy conservation of an iron and steel enterprise. With the moisture control process, energy consumption can be cut by 6 kg of standard coal per ton of coke output, while heat consumption can be cut by 11 percent, for outstanding energy saving results. The technology ranks at the internationally advanced level.
