The Fujian Sanming Double-wheel Chemical Machinery Co Ltd’s (Sanming Chemical) trade union recently did an evaluation of its 27 Wuxiao (Five Small) projects for 2011 and of their performance in pushing innovations, increasing productivity, saving energy, and reducing consumption. The result was that four of the technical center’s teams received innovation awards, while 29 individuals were given advanced awards.
Economical and Technological Innovation Projects Review Committee members took part in the evaluation.
In recent years, the company’s trade union has found a way to get staff members to become more actively involved in the production process, as well as in operations and management. Trough the use of Pioneer Workers, Wu Xiao (Five Small), and similar activities, it has encouraged them to take the initiative in technological innovations and inventions, and to make a greater effort as well in managerial innovations and energy saving.
And, thanks to these efforts, the company has seen its economic performance improve, and has been able to inspire enthusiasm and creativity among its staff members. Since 2009, the company has received 339 suggestions on minor changes, technical reforms, fixture improvements, processing techniques, and in the more efficient use of inventory, all of which have resulted in savings of more than 31,200,000 yuan ($4.95 million).
