In mid-June, Hunan Haohua Chemical Co., Ltd. (Hunan Haohua) had its 25% pymetrozine wettable powder registered as pesticide product by the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), following the indoxacarb technical concentrate and the 30% indoxacarb water dispersible granules.

Pymetrozine is a new type of pyridine heterocyclic pesticide developed by the Swiss company Ciba-Geigy in 1988. Showing no cross-resistance to organophosphates, carbamates, etc., it can be used to effectively control aphids, plant hoppers and whiteflies. Featuring high efficiency, hypotoxicity, high selectivity, and no harm to ecology and corps, it is particularly suitable for resistance management and comprehensive prevention & control. So this product has been widely applied in the US, Japan, European countries like Germany, and other countries and regions. In China, a total of seven enterprises have gone through the registration of this pesticide, including Jiangsu Anpon Electrochemical Co., Ltd., Syngenta (Suzhou) Crop Protection Limited, and Shenyang Kechuang Chemicals Co., Ltd.

As environmental protection draws increasing attentions, more strict limitations are imposed to the toxicity of pesticides and their impacts on environment. The structure of pesticides may undergo major changes and some high-toxic organophosphorus products are likely to be gradually eliminated from the market. Against such a new backdrop, the registered pymetrozine can provide Hunan Haohua with a good substitute for traditional pesticides. As well as filling the company’s gap in wettable powder pesticides, pymetrozine can further diversify and optimize its product mix, making it more competitive in the pesticide industry.
