On May 30, the National Agricultural Technology Extension and Service Center, an institution affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), organized a value-added fertilizer promotion meeting in Dezhou City of Shandong Province. The purpose was to draw more attention to the “Green Growth in Zinc Humic Acid Production” project of Haohua Junhua Group Co., Ltd. (Haohua Junhua) and introduce to the Chinese farmers the zinc humic acid compound fertilizer jointly developed by Haohua Junhua and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science (CAAS).

In recent years, Haohua Junhua has been increasing investment in scientific research and introducing foreign experts. In July 2014, it started to work with CAAS in great depth. The two sides signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on the “Green Growth in Production” project, a move that was intended to develop and mass produce the high value-added zinc humid acid fertilizer. Well-promoted throughout the country, it would enable farmers to increase income with the help of science and technology.

The findings of the experiments carried out to a total of 12 types of crops by 56 experimental bases including CAAS Value-added Fertilizer Experimental Station in 17 provinces across the country showed that the zinc humic acid fertilizer produced by Haohua Junhua could help crops like corn and wheat, fruits and vegetables better fight against drought; improve the average utilization rate of fertilizers and the yield per unit area by 30% and 10% respectively; and reduce the contamination to soil by fertilizer runoff.

The quality and efficiency enhancement of the fertilizer industry is necessary for China to advance its agricultural modernization. It constitutes an indispensable measure to realize the zero growth in the use of chemical fertilizers across China by 2020, a target proposed by MOA. Moreover, it also plays an important role in helping the nitrogenous fertilizer industry find a way out, complete transformation and upgrading, and score sustainable development. Thanks to its sound effects in improving yield of crops, income of farmers, and quality of farm products, as well as promoting environmental protection, the value-added fertilizer has been widely accepted by the market. Some experts predict that during the “13th Five-Year-Plan” period it will see rapid growth, substantially replacing traditional fertilizers. (Pan Hui)
