Sichuan Danchi has conducted technical renovations to conserve energy, reduce emissions, bring down costs and increase profits. The gear surface carburizing energy-saving technology undertaken by the company passed inspection by the Sichuan Science and Technology Office at the end of 2013, marking a new breakthrough for the company in the development of new energy-saving technology.

The company’s thermal gear treatment is key to product quality and consumes a great deal of energy. The carburization gas from the thermal treatment -- natural gas that contains excess sulfur and water -- not only affects product quality stability, but also increases natural gas consumption. Therefore, the company conducted technical renovation on the existing thermal treatment production line and developed new gear surface carburizing energy-saving technology, which received technical support from Sichuan province. The company looked over documents and explored possible processes to upgrade the pipeline design and control system. It replaced natural gas with high-purity propane, added a purifying device to the natural gas pipeline, and introduced simulated control technology to carry out accurate management of the whole thermal treatment process.

The company applied its independently-developed carburization technology, and used purified natural gas and propane as carburizing gas in thermal treatment, which significantly improved the quality of the gear products. It can now save approximately 30 tons of standard coal per year. The independent technical renovation in gear manufacturing has not only made the company competitive in product process and technology, but has also brought good economic and social benefits.
