Recently, the Anticorrosion Engineering Technology Center under Tianhua Institute (referred to as the “anticorrosion center”) successfully won the bid for the fourth bid section of anticorrosion EPC project for clean production of 400,000-ton high-purity cathode copper of the Yangxin Hongsheng company under China 15th Metallurgical Construction Group, in which the zero-shrinkage vinyl resin mortar flooring has about 12,000 square meters and the elastic epoxy resin flooring about 18,000 square meters.
The clean production project has been invested and implemented by Daye Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. The project is located in Xingang (logistics) Industrial Park, Huangshi City, Hubei Province. The owner and the general contractor have given priority to choosing the anti-corrosion and environmental protection technical solutions in a prudent manner. Given the widespread splice cracking, corrosion penetration and other conditions in traditional block flooring as well as quality problems such as impact resistance and emptiness, bulging and cracking in traditional resin mortar, this project was in urgent need of an anti-corrosion flooring solution with excellent comprehensive performance such as corrosion resistance, permeability resistance, impact resistance, reliability and aesthetics. The zero-shrinkage vinyl resin mortar flooring and elastic epoxy resin flooring technologies are developed by the anticorrosion center. By modifying the vinyl ester resin, the center has prevented the resin mortar from curing and shrinking so as to eliminate the curing and shrinking stress and enable the resin mortar flooring to be formed under any thickness without hollowing out and cracking. It has fundamentally solved the problem of corrosion failure of the traditional anti-corrosion flooring. The technology preserves the expansion joints of the concrete matrix and sets the elastic sealing joints at the corresponding positions of the resin mortar layer, so that the curing shrinkage and temperature shrinkage of the concrete matrix and the temperature shrinkage of the anti-corrosion matrix can be released freely, further improving the reliability of the flooring. This product can withstand long-term soaking of non-oxidizing corrosive media (such as 70% sulfuric acid and 37% hydrochloric acid), the zero relative permeability coefficient at 1.2MPa, and the compressive strength of at least 50MPa. It adopts self-flowing plane paint to improve the overall aesthetics of the floor, which can meet its technical requirements.
The project owner and the general contractor have investigated the application of zero-shrinkage resin mortar flooring and resilient epoxy resin flooring technologies in Baiyin Nonferrous Metals, Chifeng Yun Copper and Guangxi Nanguo Copper. According to the project’s progress, the anti-corrosion center has highly engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with the owner and the general contractor’s head in the technical plan many times and refined and improved it. As such, the scheme was optimized under the premise of meeting the technical requirements, saving the investment cost for the owner. Finally, featuring the advanced product performance, professional technical scheme, good quality assurance and service system, anti-corrosion center has earned the trust and recognition of the owner, winning the bid with absolute advantage.
The winning bid for this project marked another successful application of the zero-shrinkage vinyl resin mortar flooring technology in the large-scale hydrometallurgical smelting project. It has also realized the wide-area popularization and application of the new elastic epoxy resin flooring, which is of great significance for the anti-corrosion center in expanding the flooring market.
The center, a specialized research institute affiliated with Tianhua Institute, has developed multiple new anti-corrosion technologies and products. In 2011, it undertook a major scientific and technological project in Gansu Province, with the theme of the Development of Polymer Concrete Electrolytic Electrowinning Cell for Hydrometallurgy of Nonferrous Metals. It developed a vinyl resin integral electrolyzer with independent intellectual property rights and compiled the industry standard Integral Casting Vinyl Resin Concrete Electrolyzer (HG/T 4725-2014). In 2013, the center developed the overall anti-corrosion flooring of vinyl ester resin mortar without curing and shrinkage stress, obtaining the national invention patent. The technology has been applied in a number of non-ferrous metal hydrometallurgy enterprises in China, with excellent application effects, winning the applause of customers. The elastic epoxy resin anti-corrosion flooring developed in 2019 has a fracture elongation of more than 50%, guaranteeing the quality and reliability of the elastic epoxy anti-corrosion flooring. At present, it has been successfully applied in projects such as the Cooling Unit Workshop of the Copper Sulfuric Acid Workshop in the Guangxi Nanguo Copper company, the hazardous waste warehouse of Jiangxi Copper Lead and Zinc Plant, the nonferrous zinc electrolysis workshop of Anhui (Chizhou) Tongguan, achieving excellent results.
